About Me

Sometimes all you need in life is A Bit of Simplicity. (2)

My name is Ashley and I’ve been sent here to save your sanity. No, really I am. I am a former teacher turned homeschooling mother of three. So, learning, teaching, and time management have quickly become “my thing.” Whether you are a single mother, a mother of multiples, or a crazy cat lady- I’ve got you covered!

(If you are a crazy cat lady, I am just kidding about the “crazy” part. I love you!)

Being a woman today comes with so many responsibilities. We are not expected to just tackle homemaking; but, working, raising kids, wife-ing it up, and not going insane. All. At. The. Same. Time. It’s hard.  Trust me, I know.

If you’re battling a strong-willed child- I got you: 13 Tips on Raising a Strong-Willed Child

If you are struggling with critics out there- I got you: To All the Disgustingly Lazy Moms…

If you’ve heard about the new “Honey Craze,” but don’t know what it’s about- I got you: 11 Uses for Honey

If you want a fast, easy, and…simple… dinner that everyone will love. Guess what? You know it! I GOT YOU! Easy Taco Bake in 30 Minutes ->p.s this recipe has been shared over 23k times- so, I’d say it’s a pretty good one (;

The bottom line is, whatever it may be you’re going through, I am here for you. Even if I don’t have a post you can relate to at that moment, reach out to me. I am here to talk, to encourage, and even to just listen. This isn’t BS, I really am.

Mommin’ is hard. Life is hard. But, it’s worth it. And, it’s easier if you have a friend.

I really have two goals set in mind for this blog: to help other busy mommas live life as simply as possible (bc you know chaos is just another road we somehow end up on) and to tell our story. When researching how to start a blog, many advised to pick one “niche” but I honestly feel compelled to do both.

I want to be here to help others- in many areas of life- and also to share the unique experiences that our family is going through, and will continue to go through with our youngest: LB. She was blessed with an extra chromosome (aka EXTRA cute, EXTRA loving, EXTRAordinary -> aka Down syndrome). LB has gone through open heart surgery, feeding tube dependancies, and much more. I think sharing our experiences, our own troubles and hardships might help someone else.

LB's Journey. Down syndrome, open heart surgery, therapies, triumphs, faith, healing, and everything in between www.abitofsimplicity.com

Sharing these things and how we have OVERCOME them is a life hack in itself. It’s a skill we all search for and strive to improve every day. So, to me, simplifying life and spreading awareness go hand-in-hand.

If you are still here, and I haven’t driven you crazy yet (; I want you to do two things for me:
