My favorite kind of meals are the simple ones. The meals that I can put together quickly, with few ingredients, and know it’ll be a hit. This Taco Bake is one of those meals!
My family (of picky eaters) loves this meal, and if it’s a hit in my house this bad boy will stay around for years!
It only takes about 30 minutes (that’s including prep time), 7 ingredients, and the weight of dinner is quickly lifted off your shoulders (;

I rinse the Fritos first to remove the excess salt
And still good
Do you have the nutritional information for this recipe?
Thank you
No, I actually don’t. I’m sorry!
I used 1lb hamburger and 1lb turkey, added salsa instead of taco seasoning, 1 can of pinto beans or black beans and used tortilla chips…. chips were just fine . Topped with cheddar cheese, black olives and fresh spring onions. Served with side salad and the Family LOVED it!
That sounds great! I’ll have to try that too
Will the chips be soft or crunchy? Can’t wait to try it!
I didn’t have cheddar cheese soup so I mixed some velveeta with tomato soup and drizzled that over the top and it was delicious. My kids are two helpings!
That sounds AHHH-mazing!!
Can this dish be Frozen without the Fritos then thawed out later on?
I’m not sure. But, if you try, let me know how it turns out!!
What if you don’t have cheddar cheese soup? What’s an alternative?
Putting this on the menu for later this week! So pumped!
Also, unless I’m totally just overlooking it, I think you forgot to list the Fritos under the ingrediants list. Just wanted to let you know!
You’re so right!! Mistakes fly around my house like fruit-flies in spring >D Thanks for catching that for me!
I’m making this with Mexican rice on the bottom instead of the chips, WISH ME LUCK!!!!
How did that turn out??
I added a little cheese to the beef mixture, used the Fiesta Cheese soup and a Mexican cheese blend. We used sour cream and salsa as garnish. Definitely will add fiesta corn next time.
I make it with ground beef, onions,chopped olives a large can of chili con carnie stir in a bag of Fritos and add cheddar cheese. It is awesome!
That sounds delicious!! I will have to try <3
How can I double everything so I can make it in a 13×13 pan?
I don’t see why not! I have not tried it, but it seems like it would work. If you try it, let me know how it turns out!!
I’ve never made it but decided it looks great! I did pick up a few extras to add to it like black olives, fiesta corn, sliced jalapeños(for my husband) and sour cream! May add chopped green onion on the top once it’s done..
That sounds heavenly! You will have to let me know how it turned out!!
We use the feista cheddar chesse soup to add a little kick!! One of our Favorites
Oh, that sounds HEAVENLY! I love a little kick every now and then (;
I have a variation that my mom made when I was a kid. Bag of Fritos, 2 cans of chili of your choice and shredded cheese. Spray bottom of square casserole dish and add layer of crushed Fritos. Add 1 can of chili and spread evenly over chips. Next add layer of shredded cheese then repeat layers. 350 for 30 minutes. Can change up flavor by using different cans of chili. Can top with sour cream, salsa, etc but I like it plain.
Oh my, that sounds DELICIOUS!! Thank you so much for sharing!! I will be giving that a try soon (;
In the South aka: Frito pie
Yep we call that frito pie here in tx
Very good , my husband added corn and mash potatoes then topped with cheese amazing !
Oh, that sounds DELICIOUS!!
I loved it…
Yay!! Me too!
What is the water for?
For cooking the meat with the taco seasoning
Have you ever made this with coarsely crushed tortillas chips on the bottom instead of fritos? Do you think they would they get too soggy?
No, I have never tried that. I’m really not sure if they would get too soggy, but I am now curious! If you try, please let me know how it turns out!!
Do the Fritos get doggy
No! They are a tad less crunchy, but not soggy. My husband would flip out if I made him eat soggy chips (;
I love how easy this is! Another favorites of mine is to throw chicken or beef – as is – in a crock pot with taco seasoning and a small jar of salsa. In 2/3 hours – tacos are done!
That sounds amazing!! I will definitely be trying that out
